Pownce Monkey v0.35

Hello Pownce Monkeys. It’s been a long time since an update which is odd, if you were a user in the first few weeks there was an update almost daily. The reason behind the unfrequent updates is there is a huge update!!

Pownce Monkey is becoming the Official Pownce Application!

Daniel Burka and I have been working hard to refactor the features of Pownce Monkey and put it in a whole new design. This meant going back to basics. While the new Pownce App has more features than the old Pownce App, a few features needed to be taken out temporarily. The hope behind all of this is that the new app will be more maintainable and have much more frequent updates.

Will the new Pownce App still be open source? The Pownce App will remain Open Source. You can find the source hosted by Google Code.

What will become of Pownce Monkey? I am undecided about this for now. I can’t afford to keep the website up and make updates to the code base. What might end up happening is the website will close down, but the code will remain on google code base.

For those of you who don’t know Pownce Monkey has been sick lately. Tormented by admiral ackbar’s warning. Thanks to the efforts of !mmalone and !leahculver PM is now feeling better. If your PM is still acting up you can report a problem and we’ll take a look.

Sorry about Pownce Monkey not logging in lately. The Pownce API is getting fixed now, but it’s not completely ready. 0.31 fixes some issues that have cropped up but it still doesn’t always log in. This is due to the note_lists endpoint which seems to be erroneous for JSON, which is what Pownce Monkey is using. Pownce Monkey has in its code to logout if it cannot get notes.

We’re working with the Pownce team to get everything fixed. For all the new comers to Pownce Monkey, don’t let this turn you away from using it. Thanks

Hey All, the Pownce API has been unstable as of late. This is just temporary, I’m sure the Pownce gang is working hard on this. You may wonder why you can access through the Official Pownce App. It’s a conspiracy!!! No not really, the Official Pownce App doesn’t use the same API points as all us commoners so it’s fairly immune.

I know some may want to come down hard on the Pownce gang, but they’re only 2 people, and a couple of part timers. So they’re doing the best they can without me. ;D

Pownce Monkey should be swinging from the branches soon.

Muxtape.com is a recent web phenomenon in which users can make mix tapes and share them with friends. I have seen a plenty of muxtape links going by on my Pownce stream. So why not create a muxtape widget!

Pownce Monkey now has a muxtape widget in your pownce stream. There might still be bugs to work out, but I just couldn’t wait to get it out to you.
