These are some the most questions I get asked about Pownce Monkey.

What is Pownce?

Pownce is a social sharing site, which lets you share links, events, messages, and files. In their own words:

Pownce is a way to send stuff to your friends. What kind of stuff? You can send just about anything: music, photos, messages, links, events, and more.

What is Adobe AIR?

Adobe AIR is a cross-operating system runtime that lets developers combine HTML, Ajax, Adobe Flash®, and Flex technologies to deploy rich Internet applications (RIAs) on the desktop.

What OS does Pownce Monkey run on?

Pownce Monkey currently runs on Mac OSX and Windows. Linux support is minimal but does run. I am currently working on getting it working.

Does Pownce Monkey have keyboard shortcuts?

How does Pownce Monkey calculate Online/Offline/Away?

Currently the Pownce API doesn’t support the Online/Offline/Away status. This is how Pownce Monkey computes them.

Online: A user is online if they posted a note in the last 15 minutes.

Away: A user is away when they haven’t posted in the last 15 minutes, but they have a note on your first note page.

Offline: A user is offline when they don’t have a note on your first note page.

How do I report a problem?

We currently have a support group with GetSatisfaction.com. If that’s not your thing you can also reach us by editing the bugs page of our wiki. You can also join in or start a discussion on our Google groups page. To go strait to the development source you can create an issue on our code page. OR just plain old email mail us at help at powncemonkey [dot] com.

There is no best way to contact us. Wherever you leave the message we will get it. We just want you, to use the method that makes you most comfortable.

How can I help out?

1. Join the project - If you got some skills and would like to help out you can join the project by contacting us at help at powncemonkey [dot] com. Then you can setup your development environment using this guide.
2. Community support - If you aren’t an extremely technical person you can also help by adding information to the wiki, getsatisfaction page, google group, and even blog. (email us to become a writer)
3. Donations - We haven’t made any money from this, and don’t have a plan to. But if you feel like you want to donate you can through paypal.
   
   

4. Ads - We purposefully didn’t put ads in places where you might “accidentally” click them, but if you could “accidentally” click on our ads that would be great.
